ABOUT THE TRAINER
LEAD ~ TEACH ~ LOVE
It all started in 2000, training Rottweilers for show under Janene Stephens of Mystic Acres Rottweilers in Enumclaw, WA. It was through Janene that I acquired my beloved Rottweiler, Shiva. She was the start of my dog journey and I'll never forget her.
In 2002, I volunteered for training classes under Uta, a German dog trainer who worked at Petco in Lakewood, WA. We worked with approximately 10 dogs per class on basic obedience and engagement. She was instrumental in teaching me how to be in the mind when working with dogs.
I eventually immersed myself in rescue in 2003 working independently by picking up stray and abused Pit Bulls in Tacoma, WA, training and rehoming them to capable homes.
In 2006 I bought my second Rottweiler from Janene Stephens. Samson was another fabulous animal who captured many hearts in his lifetime.
Between 2007-2009, I volunteered and was hired with Fresno Bully Rescue which included training, kennel assistance, and was eventually bestowed a brief stint in a Directorial role. At that time we managed over Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes.
During my time at Fresno Bully Rescue, I was mentored by very knowledgeable and established women, namely Nena Hernandez of Island Rescue Organization, now managing Cavite Pit Bulls, as well as Tia Torres of Pit Bulls and Parolees and Villalobos Rescue in California. I also had the privilege of attending a Best Friends Seminar in Las Vegas where I attended speeches from animal advocates and behaviorists from all over the U.S.
In 2011, I founded Animal World Rescue along with a good friend and fellow rescuer Amber Hinkle. She continues to run Animal World Rescue and I retain a role as one of the Board Members.
In our first year we rescued and rehomed over 100 animals with AWR and have handled numerous behavior modification cases.
In 2012, I visited the Philippines and did education work regarding vaccines, health, and behavior of dogs in a rural community at comotes island.
In 2014, I moved to the Philippines where I continued my advocacy this time with Island Rescue Organization in Cebu, who manages the Cavite Pit Bulls, Lolo Ali Center, and the Busay Center in Cebu City. I also continued to take in private clientele for dog training. I lived on Lolo Ali Rescue Center in Barili during my stay in Cebu with 20-30 dogs on average for rescue and adoption. Many were feral street dogs, some with disabilities. I provided assessments, behavior mod, training, and handling on-site when needed.
I traveled to Holland in 2019 to transport two aggressive dogs and reunite them with their owner. At this time I had the pleasure of meeting Paul (Django Vom Rottenburg) and Jolita Driessen who brought me to working fields and advised me about dog sport and alternative methods that can be used in the field.
Since 2019, I currently reside in Dumaguete, Philippines taking on private clients for all behavioral problems and breeds.
I am also attending Silliman University for my BS biology degree. I'm on the verge of my thesis proposal and very much looking forward to publishing research in the field. What I have learned studying the biology of organisms helps me to asses your family pet to implement the most fair and effective training program for your dog.
In 2022 I also had the privilege of being approved to adopt a former police dog who was not social enough for the job. Ramos was entrusted to me by a 30 year working decoy (Paul) and a police officer, Jana Hodel who competes in world competitions and trains for the police department in Switzerland. They taught me about Ramos, his training, and his capacity for the work. I also had the pleasure to learn many methods in which he was trained. We gained a mutual resect and friendship though the love of Ramos. I have a lot of gratitude for their time, friendship, and the trust with such a serious dog. Ramos is currently is living his best life in the Philippines and still works with private decoys and trains for the purposes of competing in Mondioring.
To sum it all up I have worked and trained with feral dogs, former fighting dogs, my former police dog, and traveled to expand my knowledge on many training fields. Behavior modification has been a major part of my work and I continue to help dogs and their owners gain peace in the home through training. And last but certainly not least, my first love - Rottweilers.
I currently live in Dumaguete and continue to train dogs through Dog's World Training.
